First, tell your mom that you dont like it but in a nice way and you should also think that your mom really love you. I mean maybe she taught that you like it so she bought it for you.
Second, I don’t really think so that the shop would exchange it.
Have a nice day!

She probably bought it just because it was so in style. I’m sure your mother would rather hear that you’d like to exchange it for something you want to wear instead of seeing you stick it in a box and never wear it! She’d probably be more hurt by you never wearing it then by going back to get one that you would wear. Tell her that its one that everyone seems to have, and you would like something a little more individual. Suggest that you go to the store together to pick one out.. make a girls day out of it. The trick is to still make her feel included in picking one out. You could even tell her that you are afraid of loosing it or getting it confused with someone elses bracelet, and you’d rather have one that was identifiable and definitely yours. Good luck!

When you talk to your mom, tell her how much you and your girlfriend wanted the bracelets when they first came out. Then explain your girlfriends experiences with the bracelet. Put it on your wrist and show her how it dangles down on your hand and palm area and would probably catch on your clothes, etc. Then ask her if she thinks the store would let you exchange it for something less annoying.
I sure she will understand. Everyone has gotten gifts that they thought they wanted and then found out they didn’t! Good Luck and remember to thank her for the thoughtful gift (if you haven’t already!)

Listen, just accept the gift in the spirit in which it was given. Wear it to please your mother, it’s a small thing and will give her a lot of pleasure. She’s is trying to give you what she thinks you want, do this small thing for your Mum.
